Trivia[]
- Even though the Utgarda Loki is frequently touted to be the "The most powerful weapon in R-Type Command", its wave cannon attack strength is rivaled and bested by the positron cannons of the advanced dreadnoughts Muspellheim and Niflheim. It is unknown why the weapon was given such relatively low power specs by Irem.
- While chances of surviving the blast of the Utgarda are calculated to be infinitesimally small, larger and more resilient Bydo (such as the Compiler,) as well as medium to high-end Space Corps battleships, (namely the Garum, Heimdall, Tyr, Jotunheim, Muspellheim, and the Niflheim,) can survive a direct blast from the weapon.
- Utgarda-Loki was a Jotnar in Norse mythology, literally meaning "Loki of the Outyards". A king of giants, he's one of the few to ever defeat Thor. Considering that the challenges were both intelligent tests and tricks as compared to physical feats, it's a little more understandable.
