The first of a series of long operational units, the R-9B series was built as a long distance cruiser, as opposed to the relatively short range of the vast majority of fighters. It's built with staying power and defense in mind.

This ship is only unlocked by using the password 5050 1060 (European/Japan) or 2078 0278 (US).

Description:

Made to travel big distances, it has the cumbersome handling of a big ship. A long operational range is an important matter especially when fighting the Bydo. Under the right circumstances, this series’ defining characteristic can be used to your advantage.

The R-9B1 Strider is an essential part of any fleet, if only for the Balmung missile. Though it carries other missiles and it's Barricade keeps attacks at bay, most fleet commanders are content to use only the Balmung. It needs a radar unit, like the R-9E Midnight Eye, to maximize its range. A dedicated TP-2 POW Armor unit is helpful for maintaining its stock of Balmung missiles.
