The Songoku was likely named after the "Monkey King", main character in the famous Chinese legend, Journey to the West. Though the character is called Sun Wukong in native Chinese, it's translated to Son Goku in Japanese.

A more contemporary, and perhaps more recognized, relation would be to Goku of Dragonball fame, who is also based off the same legend.

This ship named Sonogong in Korean version of this game.
